Introducing Agata Proxima: PostgreSQL Security, Tenant Isolation & Data Protection

A new security platform for SaaS companies, developers, and organizations that need stronger control over how their PostgreSQL data is accessed, protected, and verified.

Modern software runs on data. For SaaS companies, that data often belongs to hundreds or thousands of different customers sharing the same infrastructure.

The challenge is not simply storing that information. It is protecting the boundaries between customers, controlling who can access what, detecting suspicious activity, and maintaining reliable records of security operations.

That is where Agata Proxima comes in.

Agata Proxima brings PostgreSQL tenant isolation, security enforcement, access verification, monitoring, audit records, attestations, and infrastructure management together in one platform.

Built around a high-performance Rust engine and a hosted security control plane, Agata Proxima gives engineering teams a dedicated layer for protecting and managing their existing PostgreSQL infrastructure.

One platform. Multiple layers of protection. One clear mission: stronger security for every tenant.

Why We Created Agata Proxima

Multi-tenant architecture has become a foundation of modern SaaS.

It allows businesses to serve multiple customers efficiently, but it also introduces a serious responsibility: maintaining separation between customer environments and data.

A single authorization mistake can create consequences far beyond one request.

For engineering teams, preventing those mistakes requires carefully designed access controls. For growing companies, it also requires monitoring, operational management, security evidence, and the ability to investigate incidents.

These responsibilities are frequently distributed across application code, database configurations, monitoring systems, internal scripts, and administrative tools.

Agata Proxima was created to bring these concerns into a more coordinated security architecture.

We wanted to build infrastructure that developers could integrate into existing systems, while giving organizations the tools to manage security beyond individual application queries.

The result is a platform designed around three priorities:

Enforce access. Verify isolation. Maintain accountability.

Meet Agata Proxima

Agata Proxima is a PostgreSQL security platform built for multi-tenant applications and the teams responsible for protecting them.

It combines a Rust-powered database proxy with a hosted management environment that brings security operations together.

The platform is organized around two connected components.

Proxima Engine handles the database connection path, tenant identity validation, role-based routing, and security-related enforcement.

Agata Proxima Cloud provides the management environment for organizations, security policies, infrastructure nodes, verification, audits, attestations, access governance, and commercial services.

Together, they provide a security architecture extending from database connections to organizational oversight.

Keep your existing PostgreSQL database

Adopting Agata Proxima does not require replacing PostgreSQL or rebuilding an application around a completely different database product.

The engine operates between the application and its PostgreSQL server.

Applications continue using PostgreSQL drivers, while the engine introduces a configurable security boundary into the connection path.

This allows organizations to strengthen their existing infrastructure rather than migrate their data simply to adopt a new security platform.

The Rust Engine Behind Agata Proxima

At the center of Agata Proxima is Proxima Engine, developed in Rust.

Rust was selected for its performance characteristics, memory safety, and suitability for systems-level infrastructure.

The engine works directly with PostgreSQL connections and supports tenant-aware security enforcement.

Its capabilities include:

- Signed tenant-context validation.

- Tenant-specific PostgreSQL role routing.

- Rejection of invalid or expired tenant credentials.

- Connection and protocol safeguards.

- Integration with PostgreSQL permissions and Row-Level Security.

- Operational health and metrics.

- Security-related verification and attestation tooling.

- Emergency-access mechanisms.

- Violation detection and configurable connection blocking.

A typical connection follows a simple path:

Application → Proxima Engine → PostgreSQL

The engine validates the relevant connection context and routes database access through the configured security model.

This provides an additional enforcement point between application traffic and the database.

Open source, with a clear purpose

Proxima Engine is available publicly under the MIT License.

Developers can inspect the source code, evaluate the architecture, run local demonstrations, and contribute improvements.

The open-source engine is one component of Agata Proxima. The hosted Cloud platform, including its commercial management capabilities, remains a separate proprietary product.

Security Capabilities Across the Platform

Agata Proxima goes beyond connection-level tenant enforcement. Its hosted platform brings together the tools organizations need to operate and review their security infrastructure.

Tenant isolation and access protection

Agata Proxima helps teams enforce tenant-aware database access through signed tenant identity, database roles, and PostgreSQL security controls.

The architecture is designed to prevent unauthorized tenant context from becoming an accepted database connection and to keep access aligned with the intended tenant boundary.

Security policies

Organizations can manage security policies and access-related configurations through the platform.

This provides a central place to work with the controls governing protected environments.

Access governance

Security also depends on who is authorized to manage infrastructure.

Agata Proxima supports organizational access management, team membership, and role-based permissions, allowing teams to separate administrative responsibilities.

Threat Watch and protection controls

The platform includes security-monitoring capabilities for investigating suspicious activity and relevant security events.

Alongside the engine's violation breaker, these capabilities support a more proactive approach to monitoring database infrastructure.

Watchdog and breaker controls

Operational protection is an important part of security.

Agata Proxima includes watchdog and breaker capabilities designed around monitoring infrastructure conditions and responding to security-related failures.

These controls give operators additional visibility into the behavior of their protected systems.

Verification: Test the Boundary, Not Just the Application

Agata Proxima places security verification at the center of its approach.

Organizations need to know how their infrastructure behaves when a request attempts to cross an authorization boundary.

Our verification approach focuses on practical security scenarios, including valid tenant access, invalid tenant context, unauthorized cross-tenant operations, and the behavior of configured enforcement controls.

Developers can reproduce tenant-isolation scenarios using the public engine's testing documentation.

The hosted platform also provides verification workflows and supporting records.

This gives engineering teams a way to move beyond simply configuring security controls toward actively examining how those controls behave.

Security becomes something teams can demonstrate, inspect, and improve.

Audits, Attestations, and Security Evidence

A strong security platform should help organizations understand their security operations.

Agata Proxima brings together audit records, attestations, and verification evidence to support accountability and investigation.

Audit logs

Audit records provide visibility into relevant activity across the platform.

They help organizations review security-sensitive operations, investigate changes, and maintain a history of important events.

Attestations

Attestations introduce an additional layer of recorded security evidence.

Proxima Engine supports signed, hash-linked attestation records, with verification tooling for checking recorded ledger integrity.

The hosted platform also provides attestation-related management and evidence workflows.

Evidence and reporting

Security teams need records they can review, retain, and communicate.

Agata Proxima's verification, audit, and attestation capabilities support the creation and examination of security evidence, including reporting and export workflows.

Together, these capabilities help organizations maintain a clearer picture of how their security infrastructure is operating.

Emergency Access and Operational Control

Production infrastructure occasionally requires exceptional administrative action.

Agata Proxima includes break-glass capabilities for controlled emergency-access scenarios.

The engine supports short-lived signed emergency tokens, while the broader platform brings emergency-access operations into its security-management environment.

These capabilities are part of a wider approach to operational control: giving authorized teams the tools they need to respond to exceptional situations while preserving security accountability.

Agata Proxima Cloud: One Place to Manage Your Security Infrastructure

Agata Proxima Cloud provides the hosted management experience for the platform.

Instead of handling every security operation through disconnected tools, organizations can work from a centralized dashboard.

The platform includes management areas covering:

- Command Center: Operational visibility and infrastructure activity.

- Security: Protection controls and security monitoring.

- Tenants: Tenant-related management workflows.

- Policies: Security-policy configuration.

- Nodes and Deployments: Registered engine infrastructure and environments.

Supporting Startups That Cannot Yet Afford a Paid Plan

We understand that not every promising startup has the financial resources to pay for additional infrastructure immediately.

A founder may be developing a valuable product, serving early customers, or preparing for launch while operating under a limited budget.

We don't want the conversation to end simply because that company cannot afford Starter today.

If your startup needs Agata Proxima but cannot currently afford a paid plan, contact our support team.

Tell us what you're building, the security challenges you're facing, and what kind of access would help you move forward.

We are open to reviewing individual circumstances and discussing practical arrangements.

Depending on the situation, that could include:

- A short payment grace period.

- Temporary access to selected paid capabilities.

- An individually approved evaluation period.

- Up to one month of additional access for qualifying circumstances.

These arrangements are considered individually, based on the organization's needs and the support we can reasonably provide.

They are not automatic extensions of every subscription.

The same approach applies to existing customers facing a temporary payment difficulty. Rather than assuming there is no solution, we encourage customers to contact us so we can discuss their circumstances.

We're building relationships with developers and companies, not just processing subscriptions.

The Founder Behind Agata Proxima

Agata Proxima was founded by Anthony Emmanuella Mmasinachi, a full-stack and systems engineer working across application development, backend systems, database infrastructure, and security engineering.

The idea behind Agata Proxima came from a broader question about modern software architecture:

Why should protecting customer data depend on so many disconnected systems and individual implementation decisions?

Building the platform meant working across multiple technical disciplines, from PostgreSQL connection handling and Rust systems programming to security verification, hosted management, and developer tooling.

The decision to develop an open-source engine alongside a separate hosted platform was central to the product's direction.

It gives developers access to the underlying enforcement technology while providing organizations with a management environment for operating that technology at scale.

Agata Proxima represents the founder's work toward making database security more accessible, manageable, and verifiable for the teams responsible for it.

What Makes Agata Proxima Different?

Agata Proxima occupies a specific position in the PostgreSQL ecosystem.

Database platforms such as Supabase, Neon, and AWS database services provide infrastructure for storing, operating, and accessing data. Other solutions, including Nile, focus on multi-tenant database architecture and tenant-aware development.

Agata Proxima approaches the problem from the perspective of security enforcement and operational control around an existing PostgreSQL deployment.

Its distinguishing approach brings together:

A dedicated Rust proxy: A separate enforcement point in the PostgreSQL connection path.

Signed tenant context: Tenant identity validation before routing protected database connections.

Tenant-specific database roles: Integration with PostgreSQL permissions and RLS.

Security verification: Practical testing of tenant-access boundaries.

Audits and attestations: Operational records and integrity evidence.

Threat monitoring and emergency controls: Additional tools for security-sensitive operations.

Hosted management: Centralized organizational, infrastructure, policy, access, and billing workflows.

An open-source foundation: A public engine that developers can inspect and evaluate independently.

The combination is what defines Agata Proxima's approach.

It gives teams a way to strengthen the security of PostgreSQL infrastructure they already operate, while adding a management layer for the wider responsibilities of protecting multi-tenant applications.
